Mode of action of Centella asiatica extract:
- Redensifying action on skin matrix
Centella asiatica contains very specific molecules in its leaves: Madecassosides and Asiaticosides. Scientific studies have demonstrated the ability of these molecules to effectively stimulate the synthesis of key constituents of the skin matrix, including collagen. The latter is essential for dermal density and structure. Progressively, wrinkles and lines are reduced, the skin is smoother. - Restorative power
Asiaticosides and Madecassosides activate cell proliferation to promote healing and skin regeneration. - Skin protection
Naturally rich in anti-radical molecules, Centella asiatica protects skin cells and tissues against external attacks (UV, pollution, etc.). It also inhibits metalloproteinase-1, the enzyme responsible for collagen breakdown in the skin.

BACKGROUND
Centella asiatica is a small herbaceous plant found in the wild state in India, China, Indonesia, South Africa and Madagascar. Included in the Indian pharmacopoeia, Centella asiatica has been used for over 3000 years in Ayurvedic and Chinese medicine for its many properties.
It is also known as "Tiger grass" as the legend goes that Bengal tigers roll in Centella asiatica leaves to speed up healing of their wounds and relieve pain.
Its healing properties started to interest scientists in the mid-19th century. Indeed, in Madagascar, some doctors used it to treat leprosy. Around the same time, the Indian pharmacopoeia referenced Centella asiatica for its restorative action.
Did you know? Centella asiatica has been found to be the ultimate restorative herb. Its exceptional healing and protective properties make it a reference active ingredient in pharmaceuticals and dermatology

- The Centella asiatica selected by ETAT PUR is harvested in the eastern part of the island of Madagascar, in the tableland region (Ecocert-certified harvesting area). This small wild herb is harvested by hand using a sustainable and environmentally-friendly process: only leaves larger than 3 cm are harvested.
- The sought-after active fraction is then progressively extracted, concentrated and purified. The active molecule (Madecassosides, Asiaticosides) content is guaranteed.
- All our products are developed and manufactured in Aix-en-Provence, France, in the Research Centre and Production plant for Bioderma, Institut Esthederm and ETAT PUR products (Naos Group / Laboratoires DIPTA).
- Needless to say, our products and the ingredients that they contain are not tested on animals, in compliance with the applicable European cosmetics regulations.
This pure Active is an extract of Centella asiatica leaves.

A small wild plant, it is harvested by hand according to a responsible and eco-responsible method. Only leaves of plants exceeding 3 cm are gathered to protect the natural resource.
The active fraction is then slowly extracted, concentrated and purified. The content in active molecules (madecassoside, asiaticoside) is guaranteed.
The quality control of this ingredient is handled by DIPTA, the research centre and inspection laboratory for the ETAT PUR, BIODERMA and ESTHEDERM brands, in Aix-en-Provence.
All details concerning the origin and quality of this pure Active are filed by ETAT PUR and can be accessed by all inspection bodies, which guarantees us total confidentiality in data processing.
Opinion of the dermatologist
The leaves of this small plant contain a large number of compounds that have been of interest to scientists for a number of years. The most conclusive are without doubt asiaticoside and madecassoside which have both scientifically proven their ability to stimulate the synthesis of dermal extracellular matrix constituents, particularly collagen. Centella asiatica is used in dermatology to treat scarring disorders and stretch marks. By improving dermal quality, it helps restore more firmness to the skin.
