Zinc is a trace element naturally present in the human body, in trace amounts. It comes into play in approximately 200 enzymatic reactions. In the skin, Zinc occupies an important place. It is needed for cell division, growth and tissue regeneration. It is also involved in inhibiting the activity of 5-α-reductase, an enzyme involved in sebum secretion.
It is introduced into the organism mainly by diet.
The use of Zinc in medicine dates back to Antiquity. In ancient Egypt, preparations based on Zinc were already in use to improve wound cicatrization.
Over time, Zinc, in various forms (gluconate, sulphate, oxide...), has come to be an essential active principle in medicine and dermatology for treating mouth inflammations such as mouth ulcers, soothing nappy rash and alleviating the clinical signs of acne.
In dermatology, Zinc Gluconate is often preferred to Zinc as it is more stable and penetrates the skin better.
The antimicrobial properties of Zinc Gluconate have led to its frequent and practically unavoidable use in treating the various forms of acne.
The quality of the Zinc Gluconate selected by ETAT PUR is obtained by biosynthesis from Zinc of mineral origin and Gluconate derived from sugars and lactic acid. The Gluconates are obtained by a biotechnological process using sugars. Once produced, the Active is concentrated and purified until 97% pure Zinc Gluconate is obtained.
The production of Zinc Gluconate, made in the Netherlands, meets very strict quality standards. The Active is concentrated and purified until 97% pure Zinc Gluconate is obtained.
The quality control of this ingredient is handled by DIPTA, the research centre and inspection laboratory for the ETAT PUR, BIODERMA and ESTHEDERM brands in Aix-en-Provence.
All details concerning the origin and quality of this pure Active are filed by ETAT PUR and can be accessed by all inspection bodies, which guarantees us total confidentiality in data processing.

Zinc is a trace element widely used in dermatology for treating acne, whether orally or locally. It is especially recommended if you have moderate inflammatory acne (red spots containing pus). Its sebo-regulatory action also makes it interesting if you present with hyperseborrhea, i.e. an oily, shiny skin, particularly in the central areas of the face (forehead, nose, chin).
If you present with mixed acne (red spots as well as cysts and blackheads), you can combine it with Salicylic Acid pure Active.
If your acne is widespread and leaves scarring, consult your dermatologist straight away. He will be able to offer you a stronger treatment.
